“I have been volunteering with the Chowder and Marching Club for almost 20 years now. The Bedford Village Chowder and Marching Club was founded in 1956 with a mission to raise funds for local youth-related programs in Bedford, NY. The Club raises funds through two annual events, Spring Clean-Up Weekend and the Fall Dinner Dance. Funds are used to help support arts programs, club, and school sports, scouts, athletics and youth outreach.

I spent the better part of May 4th, 2019 in a large commercial service truck. The truck followed a route to those folks that signed up for a pickup. We picked up items that could be re-sold at a tag sale along with junk items. Once our truckload was full we returned to the town dump where we sorted out the items to be re-sold and an active tag sale from the items to be discarded as junk. Hot dogs and hamburgers were served to volunteers during our short lunch break. All in all, we stopped at about 12 homes and made 4 trips back to the dump. The C&M Club raised over $57,000 for youth-related programs.

This organization means a lot to me as my children were raised in Bedford and they directly benefited from many of the donations made by C&M over the years. The most notable for me was the restoration of the town basketball court which was in desperate need of an overhaul.”
